12:58 pm - FINALLY

We finally figured it out! The snuggly warm dog hat and scarf is finally here! After some long, hard, tedious work, we finally got them past production! We made them in 3 sizes, XS, SM, M/L. We're also almost done with the slotted hats for the ears to poke out of. I'll post images of those when they're finally ready as well!

Thanks everyone for all the feedback and suggestions! You flippin' ROCK!

(modeled by Stewie & Lucy wearing the size M/L)

So last night I was going through last winter's bag of ideas for winter dog hats and I found this funny red corduroy one which Stewie just loves to wear. I always laugh so hard when he wears this one but it poses a good question for this season's line of winter-wear....

What is in more of demand by the customer???
a) Dog hats with cute lil teddy ears on the side or
b) Dog hats with lil slits for the pet's real ears to poke out of?

Help me out here... Let's put it to a VOTE!

10:38 pm - Hi all!

I am the very loving furmommy of two very furry and cuddly Shih Tzu's. Why would I be posting here if I have Shih Tzu's you ask? Well, I have recently fell in love with Chihuahua's! I was working at my grocery store job and this lady came through with a two year old chihuahua in her bag and he was 2 pounds I believe. I saw his little face and demeanor and he was just so cute. I love the shih Tzu but I feel like a Chihuahua might be a good addition to my Tzu family.

To be honest, I want a cuddly dog. A doggy I can dress up and carry around.  And I want a puppy. I don't feel bad about this. If I am not happy with the dog I have, the dog probably won't be too happy either. When I get a dog it is a member of my family. I will love it unconditionally and it will be mine until it dies basically. I take pet ownership very seriously. My current dogs sleep with me in my bed (when I'm home from college that is) but can also function during the day. Of course I want a puppy but I do realize it will grow up and get old.  I guess I was just wondering what a Chihuahua is really like (not just the one in the bag at the grocery) and how their demeanor is. Do they snuggle? Will they get along with other dogs (my Tzus)?

I don't plan on adding another dog for a few years but wanted to do my research thoroughly before that time comes. If anyone has experience with Shih Tzus and Chi's please share! I love Shih Tzu's very much and essentially just want to know if Chihuahua's are similar and if they would be a breed I should consider.

2:58 pm - hey all

hey everyone! I started a new community after I saw that I have lots of clothes and other things that are either way too big or too small for my dogs. So I started a community to swap dog apparel with other members because I know you have done the same mistake and have stuff thats too big or small sitting around.

Now you can get rid of it and get your pooch some shiny new treats... doggyswap Everything from tees, jackets, booties, collars, etc.... start posting!

if this is not allowed here, I apologize.

4:23 pm - A New Social Network For Pet Lovers!

Hey guys, I thought you all might be really interested in ZooToo.com which is a new social network for animal lovers (just like I said in the subject haha). I actually found my groomer with it using their pet services function. So if you're like me and have a dog AND a cat, this is a place where you can put them (and other kinds of pets/animals) up in your own zoo. there's also pet news, meet-up groups, product reviews by members, and tons of other stuff.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. I'm looking to gain friends on there! OH and i almost forgot to mention that they do good for the animal community by making over shelters and giving a portion of the ad rev gained by people being on the site to shelters. i think that the more you use the site/invite people/make friends, the more $$ goes to the shelter of your choice... hence my motivation to get friends!!!!

2:19 pm - .....

Thank you for all the positive comments, it really helps!

I don't really want to talk about it too much, but I had to put my chi down today. He had hyperthyroidism which didn't respond well with medication. It caused him way too much pain to bear for such a small dog, which lead to my heartbreaking decision. This was the first time I had to experience something like this, and I feel like I lost my child. I just can't stop crying.

6:00 pm - help!

I just got this little guy last night and since he is my first pup I am extremely paranoid. I know that Chihuahua's naturally shake however, I'm concerned about not being able to tell trembling from hypoglycemia apart from the natural shaking. I know there are a lot of other symptoms that come with hypoglycemia, but has anyone ever witnessed it in a Chihuahua puppy? Are they distinctively different? I am not used to a dog that shakes, so even the littlest twitch is freaking me out.

Thanks for any feedback ahead of time!

10:01 am - Newbie here!
virtualjunksale Hi everyone, my name is Emily and I have a large chihuahua, Pepe. He's my pride and joy and makes my life wonderful!

Ive loved everything I've read so far! Keep up the good work.

Also, if this part of the post isnt allowed, I'll take it down, but: Ive got a bunch of dog things Pepe has outgrown since he gained weight after being neutered, and some he's just plain outgrown from puppyhood, including shirts, sweaters, puppy chew toys, and even a jacket. If anyone would be interested in purchasing any of these lightly used items, here is a link to that part of my selling journal.

Thanks everyone, and nice meeting you:)

2:02 pm - Airline Travel Tips?

We leave Friday and plan to take our chihuahua with us, it's about a 4 hour flight with a lay over half way through.

Does anyone have any helpful tips to share on preparing your dog for the flight/travel??? Also any ideas for keeping the dog calm during the flight would be very helpful!

One last thing, those of you who have experience traveling with your pet, how hard is it to get your dogs carrier approved?? I'm sure it depends on the airline, but are they generally flexible or rigid?? This is the carrier that we plan to take our chi in, but I'm a little worried about them not approving it :(

I guess if worse comes to worse, the airline site says that they have bags that they approve for purchase in case yours isn't approved...!

Any help will be appreciated :)

I was given a little book recently called "A girls best friend , why dogs are better than diamonds"
It's a really lovley book and recommend it to all dogs lovers.
Thought i would share some of the best bits.
The book has cool dog related quotes in.
" A dog is the only thing on this earth that loves you more than he loves himself."

"Dogs make excellent protectors, expect when they are puppies. Puppies will draw strangers to you more efficiently than if you were handing out money."

"If you are a dog and your owner suggests you wear a sweater.... suggest that she wear a tail."

"My goal in life is to be as good a person as my dog already thinks i am."

"If you think dogs can't count, try putting three biscuts in your pocket and then giving "fido" only two of them"

"If a dog will not come to you after having looked you in the face, you should home and examine your conscience"

"The more i see of men, the more i like dogs"

More fun!
Pitfalls of dog owenership

1 your dog is probably cuter than you.
2 rhw pish condo you dream about doesnt allow pets
3 vets fees are so high that if you pass within 30 yards of the clinic they send you a bill.
4 when things get intimate between ou and your signifcant other, your dog takes up half the bed.
5 your expensive silk blouse is so covered in hair that your date thought it was a sweater.
6 finding that little "message" on the carpet... in your bare feet.
7 bringing home a date who is clever, handsome, weathly, and perfect- then finding out he doesnt like dogs... you have to kick him out.
8 going hungry when dinning out so you can take home most of your meal in a doggie bag.
9 stinting on your own personal grooming so you can keep you pet looking her best.
10 owning lots of things with chew marks.

I hope to start showing Tony once my Chihuahua Club of VIC membership gets approved. Eee!!! And now for the most important of all - PHOTOS!!!
